A new version of the APIS GIS Map Tool was released on 16th June 2026, bringing important updates to both datasets and functionality.
Datasets updates:
UK:
- Site designations SAC, SPA and SSSI updated using January 2026 data, with new sites now including associated features, Critical Loads and Levels.
- Added mid-years 2022 and 2023 data:
- PCM estimates for SO2 and NOx
- CBED estimates for Ammonia and Nitrogen deposition (grid average, moorland and forest).
The CBED estimates were produced using the most recent available using the latest available EMEP data, rainfall information, and monitoring observations.
The CBED estimates for these mid-years have an improved spatial coverage, particularly in coastal areas.
- Mid-year 2021 update:
- CBED estimates for Ammonia and Nitrogen deposition (grid average, moorland and forest) have been updated using improved input data and modelling. The CBED estimates now have a larger coverage nearby the coasts compared to earlier versions.
Ireland:
- Added feature “Ancient and Long-established Woodlands” for site designation Woodland.

- The following habitats ammonia critical levels were set to to 1ug/m3:
- S1065 Euphydryas (Eurodryas, Hypodryas) aurinia has had its broad habitats set to 1ug/m3
